Taylor Russell and Harry Styles’ love story began privately and ended that way, too. People confirmed that the secretive couple of nearly a year broke up. The outlet’s confirmation comes after multiple sources told The Sun things ended after an April trip.
A source told the British outlet yesterday, “Harry and Taylor have ended their relationship. They went through a rough patch after their trip to Japan and are taking some time apart. He’s been in America and she’s been in London. They made a lovely couple, and it was obvious Taylor made Harry happy. Things have become strained recently though, and they’ve taken some time out.”
Russell made her Met Gala debut on her own earlier this month. On May 3, three days before Russell’s appearance at the event, a source told People that Russell and Styles’ relationship was going strong.
“They are fairly serious and have traveled together,” that insider said. “They do spend time in England.” The source added that while Styles is a “private person,” he and Russell “have the same interests.”
Russell and Styles first sparked dating rumors last summer when they were seen out on a date in London. By September 2023, they signaled to the paparazzi that they were a bonafide couple when they were photographed holding hands in London.
Styles never spoke about Russell, nor has he discussed any of his previous recent relationships. He shared the reason why with Rolling Stone in August 2022. “I’ve never talked about my life away from work publicly and found that it’s benefited me positively,” he said. He knows people will speculate about his love life and sexuality, he added: “There’s always going to be a version of a narrative, and I think I just decided I wasn’t going to spend the time trying to correct it or redirect it in some way.”
