Selena Gomez and her new bob made their first event appearance yesterday in Los Angeles when the actress stopped by NeueHouse to do press for Only Murders in the Building. Gomez opted to wear a plunging burgundy Self-Portrait dress perfect for the fall season and Halloween weekend ahead. She accessorized with black open-toe heels.
For those who want to recreate the look, the dress is currently available to shop:
Gomez spoke to ELLE for its September 2021 issue about working with Steve Martin and Martin Short on Only Murders in the Building, which has been renewed for a second season. “I got to be in a space with so much wisdom,” she said. “They became my uncles.”
In August, Gomez, along with Martin and Short, spoke to Collider about how she found her balance between making her character Mabel secretive yet still empathetic in the show. “I definitely didn’t want Mabel to be unlikeable,” she said. “So, when the lines were a little dry and sarcastic, I tried my hardest to make it endearing, if that makes sense… I would have these moments that were so genuine, with Steve and Marty and my character feeling comfortable with them and telling them about her life and stuff.”
She also touched on how her role as an executive producer for the series allowed her to further shape what Mabel was like. “What was really wonderful is being able to create Mabel, as the show went on,” she said. “I think that was what was really special. Now, I feel more like Mabel than I had [in] the first episode. When it came to her wardrobe and when it came to certain things that I didn’t think were cool, or somebody my age wouldn’t say, I was very comfortable in going to talk to the writers or John Hoffman. I just wanted it to be great. Hopefully, if it continues, being able to be involved in who she is, is really fun for me.”
