Next year’s Super Bowl is shaping up to be a night to remember, at least music-wise. Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and Eminem are set to headline the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show, marking their first time taking the stage together. The big event is set to take place on Sunday, Feb. 13, 2022 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA.

The lineup is a noticeable nod to the greater Los Angeles community, which will be hosting its first Super Bowl in 30 years. It was only right that the roster feature hip-hop heavyweights from the area: Dr. Dre and Lamar, who are both from Compton, and Snoop Dogg, who is a Long Beach native. (With Blige and Eminem, they’ll be representing the Bronx and Detroit too.)

“This is the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. This is history in the making,” Jay-Z, whose label, Roc Nation, is in a long-term partnership with the NFL, said in a statement.

To further show their support for L.A., Pepsi and the NFL will also help facilitate the opening of Regional School #1, a magnet high school in South Los Angeles that will join the LA Unified School District next fall. They also intend to collaborate with the school to develop “community-inspired applied learning experiences and industry internships” for the students.

The Super Bowl marks a big return to the public eye for Lamar, who has kept a relatively low profile in recent years, though he reemerged last month for a new collab with Baby Keem, “Family Ties.” Around the same time, he updated fans with a letter on his website announcing that his next album would be his last on Top Dawg Entertainment, his longtime label. “May the Most High continue to use Top Dawg as a vessel for candid creators. As I continue to pursue my life’s calling,” he wrote, per Fader.

Along with his four co-performers, Lamar follows a long list of top-tier Super Bowl headliners, most recently including The Weeknd (2021) and J.Lo and Shakira (2020). The 2022 show will air on both NBC and Telemundo and can be accessed via livestream on Peacock.
